Working Together

Many of our activities in nursery encourage children to work together with others to build relationships and communication skills, these are of course vital skills to develop to become confident adults working with others in the future.

The milk man arrived later than usual one day, the children worked together to carry all the milk bottles into the kitchen, here are two of our very helpful children working together to give the bottles a wipe before they went in the fridge.

A spontaneous activity playing picnics with Susan. The children were each given a 'lunch box' and began to us resources to support their role play, building a story around toys. The children worked together to pack items into their boxes but also ensured their friends had the same items to, bring mathematics into play.

Here are some children enjoying practising their mark making skills together. They talk about their creations with one another and share their creative ideas.

Our Community Trip

Thank you to all the parents who joined us on our walk through the community. We looked at lots of different types out houses and buildings along the way. The children also took home a worksheet to complete at home with their families. The activity encourages families to get outside during the half term and take in some fresh air and exercise looking at the buildings around their local town or a town they may be visiting. All the returned forms will help to form a display in the nursery about our community and the world around us and will develop further over this academic year, please feel free to look at it in the book area. You are welcome to add your own photos of places you have visited, please send them to a.halstead@stmarysblackburn.ac.uk

Collecting in the forrest

The children have been into the park collecting leaves, sticks and even mud for our Halloween/Autumn/Bonfire activities. They worked together in groups to find, collect and dig up their mud. Watch out for some exciting activities to come. The park is a great resource for us to use natural materials with the children and teach them all about their environment encouraging them to comment and ask questions and talk about the things they observe.

Gunna build a house.............

The children have been busy painting on a large scale to create our haunted house for halloween. They have worked together using gross motor movements, exploring colours and what happens when they mix together.
