Fire Fighters

The children have been learning all about Community Helpers - Fire Fighters over the last two weeks. Activities have included: using their own ideas and working together as a team, with creative resources, to make a fire engine to support their role play. The children have took on the role of fire fighters wearing the uniform, using props and rescuing teddies from burning buildings. The children have took part in challenges, using their critical thinking to decide which piece of equipment will transport one vessel to another and how to help dolly get across the fire without burning her feet. To link with our Curriculum Focus of maths for this term the children have been counting Fire Fighters climbing their ladders, learning about numerals and quantity. We have also introduced mathematical language, addition and subtraction teaching them new skills in number. Children are still using maths programs on the lap top to develop their I.C.T. and mathematical skills. Muskaan's mummy and daddy have very kindly donated some fire fighter toys which the children have thoroughly enjoyed playing with and have played cooperatively with friends.
