Mark Making in the sand

The children have been encouraged to use lolly sticks to draw lines, shapes and letters in the sand to develop their mark making skills. When we took this activity outside the children ditched the lolly sticks and wanted to use their hands and fingers. They got totally engrossed in the activity squishing the sand in their hands, letting it roll inbetween their fingers.
