Wellbeing Wednesday

September's Wellbeing Wednesday focused on hand washing. The children were encouraged to do some colour mixing in the paint and print their hands onto paper. The hand prints will be used to make a new bathroom display to remind children about and promote hand washing. Once children had finished their activity they were invited to join Roxy at the water tray who encouraged them to use soap and wash their hands thoroughly following good hand washing techniques. Roxy talked to children about germs and when we should wash our hands. Developing independence with hand washing is a vital skill for preparation to school. Parents can support us with this by allowing children to carry this out at home, reminding them to use soap, but giving children the opportunity to turn taps on for themselves, wash their hands, turn taps off and find the towel to dry their hands.

We also promoted stopping smoking with parents supporting the Stoptober campaign, providing leaflet advice. Roxy is our Oral Health Champion for the setting and can provide parents with additional support on health issues.

Practitioners wore the colour brown and enhanced the setting with brown resources.

The next Wellbeing Wednesday is on Wednesday 25th October. Children will be invited to wear to black and we will focus on friendships. Parents will receive safety information on fire safety.
