Mental Health Training

Mental health can affect anyone and increasingly it affecting children at a much younger age.

Childhood

  • 75% of mental illnesses start before a child reaches their 18th birthday
  • In an average class of 30 people, three will have a mental health problem. (Figures show 10% of children aged 5 – 16 have been diagnosed with a mental health problem).

Adulthood / Elderly

  • Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year
  • Depression affects around 22% of men and 28% of women aged 65 years and over
  • It is estimated that the number of people living with dementia worldwide was 44 million, and this was predicted to double by 2030!

Amanda, Kim and Saira are currently undertaking a level 2 qualification in Children and Young Peoples Mental Health. At St Marys we believe it is important to keep learning and developing in different areas to best support the families and children in our care.
