Witton Park family run/walk and fun day

Amanda will be at Witton Park on Sunday from 11.00am for the Friends of Serenity Fun Day. She will be having a cupcake stall full of delicious home baked cupcakes. There will be a wide selection of decorated cupcakes including unicorns, bears, rainbows and even some specially dedicated cupcakes, some bees to represent the 22 victims of the Manchester bombing as it approaches it's 12 month anniversary and also a very special design in honor of Friends of Serenity. Please feel free to pop down and say hello and buy yourself a cupcake along the way.

What is Friends of Serenity?
Friends of Serenity is a non-profit organisation that was set up by Joanne Edwards at the end of May 2013 after she lost her son Luke, earlier that year, as a result of Trisomy 13.
 Friends of Serenity has a few main aims;

To preserve and protect the health of sick pregnant women and those who have suffered a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death in particular but not exclusively by:

(i) providing and assisting in the provision of facilities and equipment at East Lancashire Women and New Born Centre not normally provided by the statutory authorities.
(ii) supporting newly bereaved parents by the provision of memory boxes.
(iii) providing qualified information by any means appropriate on the chromosome disorder Trisomy 13 for the public benefit.
The charity has been working relentlessly to gain registered charity status.  This was achieved on 15th July 2014.  So far an estimated £20,000 has been raised with over £15,000 saved for the serenity suite conversion.
Some money has already been used to create memory boxes and 10 were delivered on 23rd December 2013 to the hospital.  In May an additional 5. In July 2014 items for another 30 boxes were purchased.  These will be prepared over the summer months.
