Wellbeing Wednesday

February's Wellbeing Wednesday focussed on Teeth.

In the year 2018 up to June, 12,128 children in the borough failed to have a check-up.

Despite a reduction in its record for under-fives with rotting teeth in the past decade, Blackburn with Darwen still ranks seventh-worst in the UK with 55 per cent suffering dental decay.

We invited a local dentist to visit St Marys and speak to all the children about how to look after their teeth. Parents were also invited to join us for the session and ask any questions they had. Parents also completed a Teeth Questionnaire as part of Saira's NVQ level 4 project. Children took home a teeth cleaning chart and parents were given an information sheet of good tooth care. We hope you found the session informative.

The children also had an opportunity to practise their teeth cleaning techniques on our 'BIG teeth', using shaving foam to represent toothpaste.
