Easter Egg Winners

Thank you to everyone who decorated an Easter Egg for our competition. We had lots of entries returned and one of our visitors chose the winning eggs, one morning and one afternoon child. Congratulations to Muaaz and Muhammad Humayl who are our lucky winners.

Holly Mount

The afternoon children visited our elderly friends at Holy Mount. The children made Easter Nest cakes for our friends and took them down. They were invited to join in with Easter craft activities and had lots of fun making new friends. They enjoyed our visit so much they have invited us back to visit them before the Summer Break.

Easter Craft

A few of the nursery children were invited by Sacred Heart School to the Conservatory in Corporation Park today. They were visiting to decorate the conservatory. The children took the competition entries from our decorate an Easter Egg competition and hung them in the conservatory.

What shall we do this weekend.............

At St Marys @ The Park we value the contribution parents make to their children's Learning Journals. We are inviting parents to send us their weekend photos to add to their Journal. If you would like to send us any photos with a brief explanation of what is happening then you can email them to a.halstead@stmarysblackburn.ac.uk Key Workers will talk to the children about their photos during group time and add them to their Learning Journals, this will help to build a lovely keepsake which the children will bring home when they go to school.

World Book Day Fun

Thank you to everyone who dressed up for World Book Day. The children enjoyed a day of reading looking at a special collection of on line stories on the World Book Day website. At St Marys @ The Park we are passionate about books. Children have access to them on a continuous basis and we use rhymes, books on C.D.s and puppets to help promote children's interest and enjoyment of books. We will also be using books to support our activities for the Summer Term. We will be exploring growth and new life, looking at planting and life cycles, using The Hungry Caterpillar as a starting point. To help support and extend your child's learning at home you could visit your local library and borrow or read The Hungry Caterpillar and talk about the story with your child.

Ayesha Sheth has won our 'Guess the Character' competition from the website. Congratulations Ayesha, your prize will be presented to you next week. Ayesha linked all our staff members to the correct books. Susan - Grandma - Little Red Riding Hood, Roxy - Red Riding Hood - Little Red Riding Hood, Sarah - Gretel - Hansel and Gretel, Fahmeeda - Gingerbread Man - The Gingerbread Man, Amanda - Troll - The Billy Goats Gruff.

St Marys, Award Winners!!

Susan and Amanda collected St Marys Nursery's Apprenticeship Award last night from Blackburn College's 2015 Awards. Along with Lisa who is the Manager of St Marys @ Wensley Fold we went down to Blackburn College for the annual awards evening. St Mary's were nominated for the Employer Award 2015 and won due to our dedication and commitment to our NVQ Modern Apprentices. Since the original St Marys Nursery opened at St Marys Sixth Form College in 2003, we have employed a regular intake of NVQ Apprentices who have trained to our high standards now for many years. We have high expectations of our apprentices and train them to the Outstanding quality that is required within St Mary's. St Mary's @ The Park currently have two NVQ Modern Apprentices. Fahmeeda is working towards her level 2 and Sarah is working towards her level 3. They have a day at college each week to support their work based learning. St Marys have managed to retain many of our modern apprentices who have successfully obtained permanent positions within our company and some have gone on to prove their knowledge, dedication and experience so much they have been offered senior positions within the company.

Mother's Day Activities

W/C the 9th of March we will be celebrating our Lovely Mother Week @ The Park and we are inviting our lovely Mummies to  join us for an hour or so. If you would like to come and play at nursery then please speak to a member of staff and book an appointment. You are welcome to  carry out an activity with the children if you would like, sewing, cooking, reading stories etc or you can simply just come and play. Children will soon be bringing home special Mummy bags. Please fill these bags with a few items that are special to Mummy, photos, perfume, favourite scarf, book etc. The children will then show their key worker the items and we will talk about our Mummy during group time activities.
