Half Term holidays

Nursery is closed week commencing 28th May 2018 for May Half Term holiday. We hope you all have a lovely week off and enjoy some sunshine. If you get up to anything exciting over the half term please send your photos to a.halstead@stmarysblackburn.ac.uk. These will be added to your child's Learning Journey.

GDPR

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) takes effect from today. There is a display at nursery informing you of our new policy letting you know the information we have/require about your family and how we will use it for your child. Please take some time to look through the information so you are fully informed. A copy of the policy will also be added to our policy pack which can be found in the cloakroom area. Following the half term break Amanda will speak to all parents about GDPR.

Sun Smart

We have been teaching the children about being Sun Smart this week. Children have been learning about how we can keep ourselves safe in the sun shine by wearing cream, hats, sun glasses, appropriate clothing and drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. The children have learnt about shade and how they use the shade to take rest from the sun. Please take the time to read our Sun Smart policy. We will follow this over the next term during good weather.

In the park

We have been in the park recently practising our physical skills. The children have been rolling down hills, crawling, running, climbing and balancing. We practised climbing up and down steps and worked up a sweat playing football on the field. Using the wider park is a great opportunity for children to push their physical skills and find new opportunities to 'have a go'.

Making marks outdoors

The children have been given opportunities to do mark making on a bigger scale. This helps to build relationship as well as develop muscles in children's shoulders, elbows and wrists ready for pre-writing skills.
