We have had our first visit this academic year to Holly Mount residential home. We hope to visit each Monday afternoon with a group of 8 pre-school children and take part in activities with the elderly residents there. This supports our St Marys Values teaching Mutual Tolerance and Respect engaging children in the wider community.

Our Bodies
The children have been using chalk outdoors to draw around each other. They have then been encouraged to fill in their features as they learn 'All About Me'. They learn to distinguish between the marks they make and gives meaning to marks as they draw and paint. This promotes writing skills. It also encourages children to draw lines and circles using gross motor movements (large movements) which supports their physical development.

Conker Hunt
The pre-school children went conker hunting in the park. We have found only a few this year and would like to do some interesting activities with them in nursery so if you have a conker tree near your home please collect some for us and bring them into nursery. Exploring in the park environment encourages children to ask questions and make comments about their natural world and develops their understanding of growth, decay and changes over time.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
A huge thank you to all our families who helped support us with our Macmillan coffee morning by donating cakes and by purchasing them at our event. The sessions were a big success and we could not have done it without your support. We have spaces left on our 'guess the length of the sausage roll' game before we know our collection total so watch this space. All money will of course be donated to Macmillan cancer support.
