Aprils Wellbeing Wednesday
Health Message - Healthy Eating Fruit
Safety Message - Road Safety
Colour - Yellow
Thank you to all our parents who stopped yesterday for our Smile 4 Life demonstration and presentation. The day was a wonderful success. The children were so busy, involved in different activities. Susan carried out an activity with the children comparing tinned fruit to fresh fruit, using fruits from the Hungry Caterpillar story. She talked about the smell, taste, feel and look of the fruits, discussing children's likes and dislikes, encouraging them to be independent with their choices and promoting healthy eating. The children are also having the fruits from the story for snack all this week. Apples, pears, plums, strawberries and oranges. Susan encouraged children to choose their favourite fruit and record it with a mark on a chart, exploring mark making and representing number with marks.
Roxy was the lead in Road Safety and took the children in small groups to learn about crossing the road safely, focussing on holding hands, stopping at the road side and looking and listening for the traffic. The children who took part in this activity received a Road Safety certificate.
We also had a visit from Catherine who is a representative from the Smile 4 Life team and has been assessing Roxy with our accreditation. Catherine spoke to the parents about tooth kind issues and provided support and guidance.
The day was a hive of activity and enjoyed by all.
