The Park Police solve the crime of who abandoned the picnic basket and who put Grandma in the cupboard. The children use their knowledge of the Little Red Riding Hood story and look at all the clues that are left. They think creatively and critically, make connections and predicting that it is The Big Bad Wolf who has committed the crime and understand that they must find him and arresst him. The children become involved in their role as the police and use their imaginations to act out their experiences wth their friends. They seek the challenge of solving the crime and show a 'can do' attitude when it comes to aprehending their criminal. They maintain high levels of energy and fascintion and they persist with solving the crime, even when challenges occur, such as not knowing where the wolf is. This demonstates that the children are playing and exploring and actively learning.
