Wellbeing Wednesday

This months Wellbeing Wednesday we taught the children about healthy winter vegetables. We created a display where children could observe whole and chopped vegetables and how they grow in the ground. Practitioners talked to the children about the different vegetables, the benefits of eating vegetables and showed children vegetables the were whole and then chopped into different pieces.

 

We enhanced the nursery with orange as our Wellbeing Wenesday colour. Children use vegetables to print coloured circles on orange paper.

 

 

 

Our safety message for the month for parents was Internet Safety and parents received a leaflet on how to promote internet safety at home. A display was also put up on the door of the nursery for parents to view.

 

 

 

January Term 2018

We have some limited places available for eligible 2 year olds and 3 years for a January 2018 start.

 

We can also provide 30 hours for eligible children.

Christmas Parties

St Marys @ The Park Christmas Parties

The children will be having a Christmas party on Tuesday 19th of December. Parents will be invited to contribute to food and items for the party.  A list will be displayed on the door (from Friday 1st Dec) for parents to put their name against the items they wish to bring. The children will take part in some Christmas dancing and plenty of fun party games. Children will be invited to dress up for the party in Christmas festive clothing. They can wear their party cloths, dress up as Santa or a reindeer etc or simply wear their Christmas Jumpers. The parties will be held during normal nursery sessions. 

 

 

 

Spreading kindness this festive period

Everyone can get involved in Spreading kindness this winter.
If you know of an older people person feeling lonely, call this advice line for free on 0800 169 65 65 to see how we can help.
You can also help lonely older people by volunteering at your local Age UK to help provide a range of vital services - from befriending to lunch clubs and day centre activities.
 'Christmas is a time for giving and sharing love and friendship. By popping in to check on an older neighbour we know and by making time for older relatives we can all help to make sure that everyone has a happy and warm Christmas.
'No one should be lonely at Christmas.'

December 11th the afternoon children will visit the elderly residents at Holy Mount Care Home. The children will be practising some  Christmas songs to entertain our friends with. We would also like to take all the  residents a small gift to spread kindness over this festive period. We are asking all our parents to buy a small gift suitable for an elderly person. A list of appropriate gifts will be displayed outside nursery on the door from Friday 1st Dec. The children will wrap the gifts at nursery. All gifts must be given to nursery by Friday 8th December.

 

30 hours of free childcare

All 3 and 4-year-olds in England already get 15 hours a week, or 570 hours a year of free early education. If their parents are living and working in England, 3 and 4-year-olds may be entitled to 30 hours free childcare. An extra 570 hours of free childcare a year, so 1140 hours in total. 30 hours free childcare will be available from September 2017.

The eligibility criteria are the same as the ones for Tax-Free Childcare, except you can continue to get these types of support at the same time as 30 hours free childcare:

• tax credits
• Universal Credit
• childcare vouchers or salary sacrifice schemes
• childcare grants and bursaries

When you apply, you'll be confirming that you need childcare so that you and your partner, if you have one, can work. If your child's already in a full-time reception class in a state funded school, you won't be eligible for 30 hours free childcare.

Spotty 'Children In Need' Friday

The children and practitioners dressed in their spots on Friday 17th November for Children In Need. The money raised will be added to our sister nurseries collections. Throughout we carried out lots of spotty activities to link to the theme and promoted lots of learning opportunities across the seven areas of learning.

We carried out Musical Spots for our Wake and Shake throughout the week and had the story of Spotty Dotty at story time.

 

The children were encouraged to try some spotty maths. They had to match spots with numerals on and count spotty counters. E.Y.P.'s talked about comparing quantities and more and less.

 

 

Some children got creative on a large scale with spotty painting, developing their creative skills.

 

 

We hid lots of spots around the setting and encouraged the children to play spotty hide and seek, promoting good looking.

 

 

 

 

We enhanced the malleable tray with spots and encouraged children to pick them up with tweezers and post them in the box. This is a great activity for developing muscles in their hands ready for writing skills.

 

 

We carried out an activity outdoors, jumping on spotty dots and moving in a variety of ways.
