Chocolate fun at lunch time

Our 30 hour children have been enjoying making chocolate gloop at lunch time. Here they are exploring what they can do with it and how yummy it smells.

Digging up the last of the snow

As we came to nursery on Friday, we found the last of the snow in little piles on the path. We thought it was a great opportunity for children to use tools and transport the snow into nursery. We used the activity as a chance to encourage the children to problem solve. How could we move the snow, how do we pick it up, what happens when it starts to melt and lots of interesting questions to promote critical thinking and problem solving.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all our very special Mummies out there. We hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day on Sunday. The children were very busy making their salt dough shapes for you. They made the dough, rolled it out and chose their own shape to cut out. Once baked (to harden) the children covered their shapes in bright pieces of tissue paper.
We talked to the pre-school children about their mummies, what they do for us and why they are so special. Here are soe of the things they said...............................

"Because she buys me things"
"She loves flowers"
"Mummy paints the house"
"Does the cooking"
"Mummy picks me up from nursery"
"She makes me happy"
"I like my mummy"
"Mummy reads the donkey story"
"She reads me stories"
"Mummy talks"

Weather Closures

We do apologise for our recent closures due to the weather. We pride ourselves at St Marys for striving to provide outstanding care and learning opportunities. We do however have a serious duty of care to keep all our children and parents safe, therefore we have took the decision to close for snow and high winds that made the park area quite dangerous. We thank you for your support with this issue. When closing nursery we make every attempt to inform all our parents of the closure, however this is only successful from the information that is provided to us. It is important for a great number of reasons that parents ensure their contact information is kept up to date. Home contact numbers, mobile numbers, emergency contacts etc.
If anyone did not receive a call or message from us then please accept our sincere apologies and please check your contact information with Amanda. Thank you.

Sledging in the snow

The morning children have had yet more fun while the snow has been here. They have been out sledging in the park. The children loved it and were very brave going down the hill smiling and laughing. Well done children.

Unfortunately the wind picked up in the afternoon making blizzard conditions so we had to make the call that it was too unsafe to take the afternoon children.
