As part of our topic we have been learning all about similarities and differences. We have been talking about our family units and how different they are from each other. We have been looking at ourselves, comparing our clothes, facial features, likes and interests. The children have made pictures of themselves for display purposes and have beenencouraged to talk about themselves, building their vocabualry. This type of activity supports our St Marys Values:
Mutual Respect and Tolerance
This one comes down to the oldest saying in the book. Treat others as you’d like to be treated too. Encouraging tolerance of all faiths, cultures, races and views, along with an understanding of our differences and similarities.
Understanding the World
People and Communities
Learns that they have similarities and differences that connect them to and distinguish them from others.
Knows some of the things that make them unique and can talk about some of the similarities and differences in relation to friends or family.
