The weather

Following one of our children's interests we have been exploring the weather. We have introduced a weather board for this term. As part of wake and shake time we are teaching the children about what day and what season it is. The children are then going outside to investigate the weather using their senses. We are looking at the sky and seeing if the sun is out or clouds are dark or white, we are listening to the sounds of the wind or the rain and we are using our skin to feel for the cold, the wind or rain etc. We are then recording our results daily. The children have also been investigating the frost and the snow at nursery. Children have been bringing in items they have found on their way to nursery that has been covered in frost and observing what happens to it over time. We have further experiments to carry out exploring the weather over the next couple of weeks.

 

The children have made some windsocks using a variety of creative resources. We are now waiting for a windy day to explore how they fly in the wind.
