Following the children's interests we have been role playing Tea Parties at The Park and encouraging children to take on roles, developing their imaginary play skills and their ability to play as part of a group, keeping the play going.
We decided we wanted to enhance the learning experience and introduced a day of Tea Party Snack. The children were invited to come and make their own sandwich before taking it to the Tea Party table and enjoying their snack with their friends. The activity was to encourage independence and promote children's self confidence.
Children made their own choices and used resources with supervision. They enjoyed the responsibility of carrying out small tasks and were encouraged to chat to their friends about their own homes and community. These are important parts of their Personal, Social and Emotional development.
